Bilderweg Kurt Gratzel | city tour Adenau
Adenau
To mark the 100th birthday of Kurt Gratzel, this trail with his paintings through the city shows his most famous paintings by Adenau. The works impressively present Gratzel's artistic cityscapes of Adenau at the respective locations.
A very special artist, person and painter of the Eifel is Kurt Gratzel, trained painter, painter, graphic artist and etcher.
Kurt Gratzel, born in Gdansk in 1921, first completed an art education with Prof. Fritz Pfuhle in Gdansk. After the war and imprisonment, he moved to Adenau, where he completed an apprenticeship as a painter from 1951.
From 1959 to 1963 he spent further years of study in Paris and in the French provinces, during which he primarily devoted himself to watercolor and nude painting.
In 1963 he returned to Adenau, where he painted old, formative buildings in the Johanniterstadt with great attention to detail. His views of the city of Adenau are now skilfully staged in this pictorial path through the city.
His artistic work includes hundreds of works in oil, watercolor and lithography. Armed with an easel and brush, his preferred motifs were the wild and romantic landscapes of the Hocheifel, whose moods and light he was able to capture in all seasons.
