The parish church of St. Wendelinus in Kirmutscheid sits idyllically at the starting point of the 14-kilometre-long Panorama Trail around Pomster and Barweiler.Accompanied by the babbling Trierbach stream, the route leads through the small village of Kirmutscheid, which has only a few houses, into a coppice forest of oaks and hornbeams. Surrounded by the natural silence, the hiker is led along a gently ascending forest path to the wooden viewing platform of the panoramic view just before Pomster. The magnificent distant view offers the observer a wonderful view over the varied Eifel landscape with the striking Aremberg (623 m), 12 picturesque villages and the once mighty ruins of Nürburg Castle on Mons Nore, the black mountain (678 m). A bench invites you to take a short rest. The circular route continues through the village of Pomster. Here, in village tranquillity, you will find charming quarry stone and half-timbered houses next to the small historic chapel.Through meadow valleys and mixed forest, you pass ant colonies and enter the natural floodplain of the Wenigbach. The crossing of the Wenigbach takes place over stepping stones. After heavy rain, the crossing can be somewhat difficult. Wet feet are possible! Once again, the natural silence is captivating and guides the hiker further through open meadows, fields and hedgerow landscapes past the Roßbach up gently to Barweiler. Here it is worth visiting the pilgrimage church of St. Gertrud, before the path leads through a beautiful avenue and varied Eifel nature, offering a wonderful view of the Kirmutscheid church and thus back to the starting point.
